30-second verdict
Interview Sidekick is a real-time AI interview assistant with practice tools built in. In live interviews it hears the question and shows a tailored answer in about a second, hidden from screen sharing on the desktop app. Its strongest points are speed, the free unlimited test sessions, and having live help and mock-interview practice in one plan. Its weak spot is setup: if your computer audio isn't routed correctly, it can't hear the interviewer and answers get generic.
What Interview Sidekick does
Interview Sidekick covers both sides of an interview: practising beforehand and getting help during the real thing.
Live interview assistant
The desktop app hears the interviewer through your computer's audio, transcribes the question, and shows a suggested answer in about a second, shaped by your resume, the job description, and any notes you add. It runs alongside Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Webex, and other meeting apps; nothing joins the call.
Coding and screen help
Press the screenshot shortcut on a coding problem or assessment and it reads the screen and walks through an approach and solution. Answers can be set to Behavioral or Coding, bullet points or STAR, brief to thorough.
Stealth mode and compact overlay
On the desktop app, the answer window can be hidden from screen sharing and can shrink to a small overlay you place anywhere on screen, with keyboard shortcuts to record, focus, and toggle stealth. In the browser version there is no stealth.
AI mock interviews and a 16,000+ question bank
Practice with a voice AI interviewer built from a job description, then get scored feedback on structure, specificity, filler words, and pace. The question bank covers 16,000+ real interview questions, filterable by company and role.
Real user results
Four real users, anonymized, with numbers from their actual sessions. Scores come from the AI feedback each session produces.
First real interview was a freeze — barely 40 words in 39 minutes. A week later, leaning on the live assistant for the hard technical asks, the answers landed.
She knew the material but raced through it. Nine days of scored mock reps later, the filler words were mostly gone and the pacing was calm.
At first she read the suggestions back stiffly. Four real interviews in, she was using the live assistant as a scaffold — then answering in her own words.
Drilled mock interviews for five weeks, then lived in the assistant through the real thing — 819 answers across 32 interviews, each in about a second.
Pros and cons
The cons are the issues people write to support about most often, not a token list.
What users like
- Unlimited free 2-minute test sessions with every feature, so you can check it works on your own setup before paying. No card needed.
- Fast: live answers usually appear in about a second, which matters when you have to start speaking.
- One subscription covers both live help and practice (mock interviews, scored feedback, the question bank).
- Answers use your resume and the job description, and you can set format, length, and tone.
- Weekly and 90-day plans, so you don't have to pay for a full month for a single interview.
Where it falls short
- Audio setup is the most common stumbling block. On Windows, the meeting audio has to come out of your default output device; on Mac you need to grant the System Audio Recording permission. When the interviewer isn't heard, answers get generic.
- The web and phone versions can't hear a meeting in a separate desktop app. For real interviews you will want the desktop app.
- Stealth is not guaranteed against every proctoring or lockdown tool. It works with most setups, but it's case by case, so test yours first.
- No refunds. All sales are final, which is why the free test sessions exist.
- Support is by email only: no live chat or calls.

Common misconceptions in other reviews
Several third-party reviews of Interview Sidekick, including ones published by competitors, are out of date. Here's what's accurate today.
Ultimate is $80/month in the US and most countries, and $30/month (₹3,000) in India and nearby markets. There are also weekly and 90-day plans. The live price for your country is on the pricing page.
Free test sessions are unlimited. Each is capped at 2 minutes, and starting a new session gives you a fresh 2 minutes.

There is no extension. It runs as a desktop app for Mac and Windows, or in Chrome on the web (sharing a meeting tab with its audio).
Interview Sidekick vs Final Round AI
Final Round AI is the tool Interview Sidekick is most often compared with. Both offer a live interview copilot, stealth mode, coding and screen help, and mock interviews, and both run as Mac and Windows desktop apps.
The practical difference is whether you can try the live assistant first. Interview Sidekick gives you unlimited free 2-minute test sessions of everything, including live answers and stealth. Final Round AI's pricing page says there is no free trial: live CoPilot sessions need a paid Pro subscription.

Where to read independent reviews
This page is written by the Interview Sidekick team. For outside opinions, read reviews on Trustpilot, including the critical ones, and search Reddit communities like r/jobsearchhacks and r/cscareerquestions where people discuss AI interview assistants.
The fastest way to judge it, though, is on your own setup. Run a free test session against a YouTube mock interview, then on a call with a friend to check stealth mode.
